>I decided last night to head up into the high country today to chase ptarmigan with my bird dogs at 12,500 ft above sea level which is a 2 hour drive from home! Karen and the girls had a school function this afternoon, and I’m waiting (patiently) for Walter and his wife Joanne to make…

>Excellent Hunting Dog DVD
> I have recently become acquainted with a bird dog trainer extraordinaire by the name of Ben Garcia (Yes, he looks young…but man can he train gun dogs!)! He has trained several of my clients’ dogs over the past couple of years, but we had never formally met until recently! Ben’s clients only have the…
>Excellent Article on Strideaway!
>Kim Sampson (Team Member of Upland Equations) recently posted an excellent article on Strideaway entitled Passing the Torch (Click Here) which talks about the mentors that have shaped her life in the bird dog world! Our bird dogs have become very important family members and not just hunting partners 3 or 4 months out of the year. Peoples’ lives are also very busy these days, and the price of gas makes travelling or flying…
>A Gracious Gift
> I have been enamored with sage grouse since I was a young teenager…I’ve poured through every piece of literature on these majestic birds that I could possibly find (although there is not very much)! I know I’ve said this before, but they define the American West and everything that is wild to me…I love…

Quit Grousing Around
For me, grouse are the quintessential wild upland bird of the west. Idaho hosts five different subspecies: blue, ruffed, spruce, sage, and sharptail. I have dubbed the taking of all these birds in one season as the “Idaho Grouse Grandslam.” Admittedly, I have not yet accomplished this feat. In 2002, I came close by harvesting…
