>Wild Birds Make Good Bird Dogs!

>Tim and I made a trip up north along the South Platte River to air some dogs and enjoy a beautiful Colorado Sunday! Birds were a bonus…as we found 3 decent coveys of quail and 2 pheasants and saw some white-tails and a coyote. It was a great day, and a blast watching the dogs enjoying life. As I’ve said many times…wild birds make bird dogs!

    >Looks like a ton of fun, Shawn! Do bobwhites pair up later than most other birds? I’m kinda surprised you are still finding coveys but I don’t know much about Mr. Bob’s habits either.Kim

  4. >Kim…Bobwhites will pair up just like other covey birds, but it’s been dang cold the past few days…and they were still in coveys! It was a great day!

  5. >Thanks Dale…….Had a great time and Shawn was a great find in a friend.I know that Grayling area all to well. Spent a tremendous amount of my childhood in Grayling as I had 2 sets of Grandparents with places up there. A few years back we really had some nice dog work in the Pigeon just a little north of you there.I am going to get Shawn up to the Western U.P. as a soon as I can.Had a blast the other day for sure!
